How difficult is the Mount Batur trek?
Moderate — about 2 hours up with a well-maintained trail. Beginners with reasonable fitness do it every day. Not into hiking? The Jeep Sunrise Tour gets you the sunrise experience with zero hiking.
What time does everything start?
Hotel pickup is generally between 00:30 and 02:00 AM depending on your area. The trek usually starts around 03:30 – 04:00 AM, with sunrise around 06:15 AM. You are generally back at your hotel around 10:00 – 11:00 AM, depending on your location and itinerary.
Can I see the sunrise without hiking Mount Batur?
Yes. The Jeep Sunrise Tour is the non-hiking option. A private 4×4 Jeep takes you toward the sunrise viewpoint, so you can enjoy the Mount Batur sunrise experience without doing the summit trek.
Is Mount Batur suitable for beginners?
Yes. Mount Batur is a moderate trek and many first-time hikers complete the sunrise trek. Your trekking pace depends on your fitness level, experience and trail conditions. A local trekking guide accompanies the trek and helps you along the route.
Can children do the Mount Batur sunrise trek?
Children can join the trek subject to the applicable age and participation requirements. If you are traveling with children, please provide their ages when booking so the team can confirm the appropriate option for your family.
What’s the cancellation policy?
100% refund if you cancel 1+ day before. Same-day: 50%. If the mountain is officially closed due to weather or volcanic activity, you get a full refund or free reschedule. See our Refund Policy.
What should I bring for Mount Batur?
Hiking shoes, warm jacket, long pants, a small backpack and camera are recommended. Temperatures at the summit can feel cold before sunrise. We provide headlamp, trekking pole, mineral water and breakfast.
Is the hot spring add-on worth it?
If you want to relax after the trek, you can add the natural hot spring experience for IDR 150,000 per person. The add-on is optional and can be selected when booking.
Do you offer group discounts?
Private Trek pricing becomes lower per person as the group size increases. Current Private Trek rates are listed according to group size on the booking page. For larger groups or custom arrangements, please contact us for the current group rate.
How long does Mount Batur sunrise trekking take?
The complete experience usually takes several hours, including hotel pickup, the trek, sunrise time at the summit, breakfast and the return journey. The exact timing depends on your pickup location, trekking pace and trail conditions.
What is included in the Mount Batur sunrise trek?
The trekking package includes a flashlight, trekking pole, welcome drink, official local trekking guide, Mount Batur entrance ticket, bottled mineral water and breakfast served at the summit. A visit to a Balinese coffee plantation on the way back is also offered as a complimentary stop.
